TO: | Commanding Officer, Second Ranger Battalion |
THRU: | Commanding General V Corps, APO 305, U.S. Army |
It is with genuine pleasure that on completion of the present phase of our operation we find ourselves completely in control of all the objectives that we were assigned to take. In spite of the difficulties of terrain, tenacity of the enemy and the extreme adverse weather, your unit has consistently moved forward. Every obstacle you have met has been overcome. We have emerged as a team with fighting spirit that nothing can stop.
It is with justifiable pride that I am able to extend my congratulations to you for the determined leadership you have displayed and which has resulted in the obtaining of the final objective of the first phase. I desire that this commendation extend down through all ranks. The fighting spirit, the tenacity of purpose and the will to win has never been better personified than it has by the men of the Second Ranger Battalion.
We will go on to more successes, confident in our skill and in our ability. The people of our nation are watching you and are cheering you on. They can be proud of your success.
